Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Face Off mobile app and website (the “Service”), operated by Face Off (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Face Off. If you are resident in the European Union you must be at least 16, unless your local law sets a lower age of digital consent and a parent or guardian has authorised your account. By using the Service you confirm you meet the applicable minimum age and have the right to enter into this agreement.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You may not impersonate another person or choose a handle designed to mislead other members.
• One human, one account. Multi-accounting is grounds for removal from groups.
• You may sign in with email and password, or with a Google or Apple account. The same rules apply regardless of sign-in method.

3. Predictions and groups

Face Off is a free, social predictions game. It is not a gambling platform. Predictions are made for entertainment and bragging rights only. No real-money wagers may be placed through the Service, and we do not facilitate any kind of pay-to-play contest.

Predictions lock at the official kickoff time and cannot be edited afterwards. Scoring runs automatically once a fixture is officially marked finished by our data provider.

Abandoned, postponed and amended fixtures:

• Cricket, motorsport and tennis fixtures that do not produce a result — for example a cricket match marked abandoned (weather or non-result), a motorsport race abandoned or cancelled, or a tennis match abandoned or decided by walkover — award zero points to every prediction on that fixture, with no refund or bonus.
• For other sports, we follow the official result published by our data provider. If a result is later corrected by the provider, scoring for the affected fixture is re-run and the leaderboard updates accordingly.
• A fixture that is postponed but later played is scored when it plays. Predictions remain locked from the original kickoff time.

Fixture and result data: we will always try to keep fixtures, kickoff times and results as accurate and up to date as we can. However, this information is supplied by third-party sports data providers, and we rely on those providers for its accuracy and timing. We cannot guarantee that every result will be received, that it will arrive without delay, or that it will always be correct. Where a provider corrects a result, we re-run scoring for the affected fixture and the leaderboard updates accordingly.

4. Community rules

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other members.
• Post content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or violates anyone’s rights.
• Spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to interfere with the Service.
• Use the Service to advertise or solicit without our written permission.
• Use the Service to facilitate any form of real-money betting, wagering, or pay-to-play contest, whether inside or outside the app.

Group administrators may remove members from their own group at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Content you post

You keep ownership of anything you submit (handles, display names, group names, messages, predictions). By posting content you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute that content to other members of your group, solely to operate the Service.

6. Our intellectual property

The Face Off name, logo, app, and website are owned by us. You may not use our branding without written permission. Sport fixture data is sourced from third-party providers and remains the property of those providers; team names, league names and crests are the intellectual property of their respective owners and are used solely to identify the relevant fixture.

7. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but the Service is provided “as is” and may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, or events outside our control. We are not liable for missed predictions caused by service outages, third-party data delays, or any other event beyond our reasonable control.

8. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that fixture data will be completely accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of the Service is limited to ZAR 500. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time — see Account Deletion. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app before they take effect.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts, except where mandatory consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
